Welcome to Shut Up and Write Community — a space for writers and readers to connect, share, and grow together.

By subscribing, contributing, or participating in this community, you agree to the following terms. We’ve written them in plain language because creative spaces should feel human.

1. Our Community

This publication is a writing-focused community hosted on Substack. It exists to:

• Share original writing

• Support contributors

• Encourage thoughtful discussion

• Foster a respectful, human-centered creative environment

We ask everyone to participate in good faith and treat others with courtesy and care.

2. Content Ownership (This Is Important)

All content published here — essays, stories, commentary, and other original work — belongs to the individual contributor who created it.

When someone shares their writing on this platform:

• They keep full ownership of their work.

• Publishing here does not transfer copyright to us.

• We receive only the limited permission necessary to display and distribute the content on this Substack.

Please respect the work of others.

You may not copy, reproduce, repost, distribute, sell, or reuse contributor content without the contributor’s explicit permission, except where allowed under applicable copyright laws (such as fair use).

Writers deserve control over their own words.

3. Original Work & AI Policy

This community is dedicated to human-created writing.

We do not accept, publish, or feature work that is generated wholly or substantially by artificial intelligence systems.

By submitting work, you confirm that:

• The writing is your own original, human-created work.

• It was not generated by AI tools.

• AI was not used to produce the core content of the submission.

Light editing tools (such as spelling or grammar checkers) are acceptable. However, submissions created, drafted, or substantially composed by generative AI systems are not permitted.

If we determine that submitted work violates this policy, we reserve the right to decline, remove, or retract publication.

This policy exists to protect authenticity, voice, and the integrity of our contributors.

4. Submissions

If you submit writing to be published:

• You confirm that the work is your own original creation.

• You confirm you have the right to share it.

• You grant us permission to publish it on this Substack.

We may lightly edit submissions for clarity, formatting, or length, but we will not materially alter your work without discussion.

5. Community Conduct

We want this space to feel welcoming and safe.

By participating, you agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or intimidate others

• Post hateful, discriminatory, or abusive content

• Share spam or misleading information

• Infringe on someone else’s intellectual property

We reserve the right to moderate, remove comments, decline submissions, or suspend access if community guidelines are violated.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

Some content may be offered as paid subscriptions. Payments are processed through Substack and its payment providers.

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Substack account settings.

We do not store your full payment information.

7. Email Communications

By subscribing, you agree to receive emails related to the publication. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link in any email.

8. No Professional Advice

Content shared in this community reflects the personal views of contributors and is intended for informational and creative purposes only. It should not be considered legal, financial, medical, or professional advice.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we do, we’ll post the updated version with a new effective date. Continued participation means you accept the updated terms.
