We all know what a Beta Reader is, a chosen few readers who are given a polished manuscript to read from to back, giving their thoughts to the writer to assist with making improvements to the book. It’s their job to point out things that the writer may have missed that are difficult to read or understand. Only with quality feedback can a writer really utilise it and show the books true potential. I’m pleased to have several writer friends in mind as potential Beta Readers for when I require one. All I need to do is finish my books rewrite and then I’ll need to ask them.
Alpha Reader
This is something different. As the image says, an Alpha Reader will read your manuscript in its earliest draft form, complete with its spelling mistakes and repeated phrases. Their job is to provide constructive feedback on things like the plot, character development and more.
Now we all know the difference between Alpha and Beta readers, which writing term would you like us to explain next? Let us know in the comments below. Don’t forget if you like our posts follow, comment and subscribe.
